Founder & Head Coach Kaitlin Goodman

Running Joyfully is led by pro runner and coach Kaitlin Goodman. I offer 1:1 personal online run coaching and individualized training programs that help you take your running to the next level. My programs are designed to help you reach new personal bests in a way that is motivating, fulfilling, and most importantly, joyful!

As a coach, I’m here to help you tackle ambitious running goals. Whether you’re training for your first marathon, aiming for a Boston Qualifier, chasing a sub-3:00 or sub-4:00 marathon, or ready for your next breakthrough, I’ll craft a training plan specifically for you.

I’ve been coaching runners at Running Joyfully for over 8 years and have coached all ages, levels, and abilities — from Boston qualifying marathoners to Division I track athletes, from Olympic Trials marathoners to first-time marathoners. As a new mom myself, I also love working with pregnant and postpartum runners, helping running be a joyful part of their motherhood experience. No matter your experience, I love helping runners discover their potential!

In 2023, I welcomed an amazing crew of new coaches to Running Joyfully — Coach Amy Sanchez, Coach Katie Newton, Coach Kacy Seynders, Coach Jen Serna, Coach Stephanie Garcia Cichosz, and Coach Danielle Encizo. I am so thrilled to expand our team and support more runners across the globe! Each of these women not only embody the Running Joyfully mindset, but they also bring extensive running and coaching experience, as well as specific expertise in mental skills training and injury prevention. Amy, Katie, Kacy, Jen, Steph, and Danielle all add so much to Running Joyfully and I’m so excited to have them on board!

WHAT WE OFFER:

We offer 3 different tiers of Personal Run Coaching:

 
 

Communication is essential to all of our run coaching programs. We believe in supportive coach-athlete relationships that are built on trust, communication, and care. All of our programs are holistic, individualized, and designed specifically for you!

1:1 Personal Run Coaching is our bread & butter and we offer two high-touch programs:

  • PLUS Coaching is our most popular program and includes an individualized training program, unlimited email communication with your coach, weekly training feedback, and quarterly check-in calls.

  • PRO Coaching is our highest level of support and includes an individualized training program, unlimited email communication with your coach, 2x/week training feedback, and monthly check-in calls.

We also offer CORE Coaching, our introductory coaching option that is lighter-touch. CORE Coaching is geared toward the runner who is looking for an individualized plan and coaching guidance, but without the full communication support that PLUS & PRO 1:1 coaching provide. CORE Coaching includes a personalized training plan and 2x/month training feedback.


WHAT'S INCLUDED:

PLUS & PRO 1:1 Personal Run Coaching Programs Include:

  • An Initial Fitness Assessment

    • Via an athlete profile and questionnaire, our coaches learn about your current fitness, athletic history, past running experience, and your goals. This assessment helps us design a plan specifically for YOU and YOUR needs as an athlete.

  • An Individualized, Custom Training Plan

    • We deliver your training via Final Surge, an online training platform and app. Every 1-2 weeks, your coach will send you a personalized training schedule built just for you. No two plans look alike - your individualized plan is designed to fit YOUR lifestyle and help you reach YOUR goals. Because things can come up - work craziness, illness, unexpected events, kiddo craziness - we might need to make adjustments, and we’re here to support you with that (including schedule modifications and cross-training).

  • High-Touch Personal Coaching

    • Coaching is about so much more than just the training plan! We provide regular and timely comments on your workouts to give you the feedback and support you need as you work toward your goals.

    • Unlimited email and Final Surge access to your coach

    • Monthly or quarterly 30 minute one-on-one phone consultations with your coach

  • Teammates & Community!

    • Access to a private online community to connect with team members to ask questions/get feedback & support

    • Community Chats - small discussion groups with teammates on a similar running journey

    • Team meet-ups at races and group runs led by our team captains in the Greater Seattle area, Greater Boston area, Rhode Island, Connecticut, NYC, and Washington DC.

    • The Running Joyfully book club!

  • Education

    • Monthly Team Training Talks - live educational Zoom calls with Coach Kaitlin where we dive deep on topics like marathon fueling, recovery, and more! You’ll hear from Coach Kaitlin, our assistant coaches, and expert guest speakers. You also have access to a large library of previously recorded Training Talks to watch and learn from.

    • Pre-Race Webinars to help you run your best Houston Marathon, Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon, NYC Marathon, and California International Marathon.

  • Strength Training

    • All of our run coaching programs include The Fundamentals, our running-specific strength program to help you be a stronger, more durable runner and prevent injuries. A healthy runner is a happy runner!

    • We also offer add-on strength training programs, including our 12-week Strength for Performance program, Strength for Masters Runners program, and Custom Strength Training with our resident strength expert, Coach Kacy, PT, DPT.

  • Nutrition Guidance

    • Strategies for fueling for success pre-run, mid-run, and post-run

    • $80/year credit at The Feed to spend to support your fueling & nutrition needs

  • Race Support

    • Pre-race plan & strategy and post-race analysis & feedback from your coach

    • Team Races with in-person coaching support (For 2024: Coach Kaitlin will be coaching at Olympic Trials Marathon, Boston Marathon, Eugene Marathon, California International Marathon, and others TBD)

  • Running Joyfully team gear/swag!

Running Joyfully Personal Run Coaching is a 4-6 month minimum commitment, with the option to renew quarterly after that.
